Azure contains 32 patches, 8 from each of the most usable categories, and covers a little of everything. The main focus of this bank is to push Cobalt a little farther than it has been pushed before.
KEY 70s Wedding
KEY Zen Rattle
As one of Leslie Sanford's friends I have always wanted to build some sounds for Cobalt that were not rushed and were usable in a variety of different styles of music. During the creation of this bank I have learned that while Cobalt may appear basic and simple on the surface, there is a wonderfully unique and musical essence in the instrument that can be tapped to deliver what a unique hybrid analog/digital sound character. I have had a great time patching this bank and I would like to just say Thank You to my good friend Les, Cobalt is a real work of art and a classic in my book!
For the bass patches try a bit of pitchbend and play in legato style. Also some of the bass patches respond very well to stacatto type playing so experiment. Satisfaction, Tut, and Headhunter are all inspired by those infamous tracks.
The pads on offer here were probably the most difficult to make and I had to fall back to use a lot of effects to make them just so. A few of them have surprises in store as they evolve.
For the lead patches I've tried to provide some usable and unique sounds with a cobalt touch. Cobalt can do some pretty up front sounds though I've tried to not make them too cutting.
The Key patches are designed to be played all over the keyboard but some in particular are made for lower or upper octaves. Try for instance Zen Rattle on the lower half of the keys.
